The digital age meant that games could never sell out again. You could always find a title in an online store, even if your local GameStop was sold out or eBay prices were too high for your blood. However, Devolver is releasing a top-down shooter for Nintendo Switch that feels specifically for the aftermarket as it will only be physical with no digital release in sight.
Demon Throttle is what the kids would call “retro style,” and it’s developed by Doinksoft, the makers of Gato Roboto, Tombshaft, and Devolver Bootleg. You can’t even pick it up at your local store or a major online retailer as it is only sold through the collector’s boutique site Special Reserve Games. The regular “single” version is $ 30, while there is also a Collector’s Edition for $ 40. Good luck trying to get one – the site is currently putting users in a virtual queue. My estimated waiting time is … 54 minutes. Which is fine I think since the game won’t ship until 2022.
