Ten years after its first release, Teenage Engineering is still finding ways to surprise and delight with the OP-1. On Wednesday the company released a software update for the popular synthesizer that supports USB audio streaming. In short, it means it’s much easier to plug the OP-1 into your favorite digital audio workstation and start making music. You no longer have to plug it into an external sound card first. It’s also easier if you want to sample and record on the OP-1.
According to Teenage Engineering, USB audio streaming works with PCs and Macs, as well as iOS and Android devices. So many years after its release, the company says it was able to bring such a transformation function into OP-1 by adapting what it learned while working on OP-Z. You can download the update by visiting the Teenage Engineering website and following the instructions listed there.
