In a few weeks, Rivian will begin shipping its first R1T Pickup and R1S SUV “Launch Edition” models to consumers. If you’ve considered pre-ordering any of the vehicles, you had to base your decision on internal estimates by the company. No longer. The Environmental Protection Agency released their official range guidelines after testing both the R1S and R1T.
Equipped with Rivian’s 135 kWh battery, the EPA says the R1T can travel 314 miles on a single charge, while the R1S can travel 316 miles on a full battery. In 2022, Rivian will offer a “Max” package, which the company estimates provides around 400 miles of range per charge. The automaker promised to reveal more details about its EPA certification shortly.
