SpaceX’s SN10 Starship sticks the landing — and then explodes

After a last-second crash today, SpaceX launched the SN10 spacecraft in a high-altitude flight test that lasted 10 km above the earth. The main difference between this test and previous flights is that not only was it properly maneuvered by a flip, but it landed gently on the pad in Boca Chica, TX – with no explosions.

Update (6:36 p.m. ET): So, because of the no-blast thing – just moments after landing and shutting off SpaceX’s live feed, the SN10 joined its predecessors by exploding on the pad. NASASpaceflight recorded the event with its own cameras.
