When American Express announced new temporary benefits for its Platinum cards in early January, this indicated that “in the coming weeks” it would also introduce temporary benefits for its Delta, Hilton and Marriott credit cards. On Monday, the issuer kept that promise and released an impressive array of credits and bonus points for virtually every airline and hotel card in its portfolio.
The new offers, which include up to $ 220 in credit for restaurants and U.S. cellphone services, are intended to keep existing card members who were unable to take full advantage of their travel card due to the pandemic. To be eligible for these offers, you must have your card open by January 1st, 2021 and register through Amex offers before you can make an eligible transaction.
Almost all personal and business American Express Delta credit cards receive additional credit and the opportunity to collect bonus points later in 2021. The balances on the personal Delta cards vary depending on the type of Delta credit card you have:
Small businesses with Delta Amex business credit cards see similar bank statement credit amounts. However, business card balances apply to US cellular services instead of restaurants:
Additionally, all of the above Delta Credit Card Members can earn 5 miles for every dollar spent on eligible Delta purchases by December 31, 2021. If you have more than one eligible Delta card, you can only register one card for this bonus point offer. However, the credit for restaurants and wireless networks can be activated across multiple cards.
American Express also announced that Delta Platinum and Reserve personal and business card members will be able to earn an additional 25% in Bonus Elite Miles for Status Boosts in 2021. Status Boosts award additional Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs) for significant expenses on eligible Delta Credit cards that make it easier to achieve Delta Elite status when you are not traveling.

Eligible Hilton American Express credit cards will offer credit up to $ 220 starting in 2021.

Those with American Express Hilton credit cards, effective January 1, 2021, will also have the option to earn additional points and bank statement credits for purchases they are likely to make at home while away from the streets during the pandemic. The credits on the four Hilton personal and business credit cards are split as follows:
All eligible Hilton Honors American Express card members, both personal and business, can Earn 10,000 additional Hilton Honors Bonus Points This offer can be used up to ten times. However, if you have multiple eligible Hilton credit cards, you can only register one card for the bonus points.

Many American Express Marriott credit card members who owned their card as of January 1, 2021 will also have access to these credit for bank statements and bonus points. Amex’s Marriott personal and business credit card offerings are structured as follows:
- Marriott Bonvoy American Express Card members can earn Up to $ 110 in meal statement credit in servings of $ 10 per month between February 1st and December 31st.
- Members of the Marriott Bonvoy Brilliant ™ American Express® Card can earn Up to $ 220 in meal digest credit in servings of $ 20 per month between February 1st and December 31st.

These new limited-time credits can offset a significant portion of your annual fee in 2021, and in some cases effectively eliminate them.

Frankly, these are pretty generous offers, and for those with Delta Gold Amex ($ 99 annual fee), Marriott Bonvoy Amex ($ 95), Hilton Surpass ($ 95), or Hilton Amex (no annual fee), the credits alone are good even if you are If you pay an annual fee for one or more of these cards, you can easily get more credit back than it cost you this year to keep the card.
The same goes for multiple business credit cards on the list. Delta Gold Business Amex ($ 99 per year), Hilton Business Amex ($ 95), and Marriott Business Amex ($ 125) cards now have limited-time credits that more than make up for their annual 2021 fees.
For the more expensive Delta, Hilton, and Marriott cards, the annual fees for 2021 won’t be fully offset by the credits, but the costs will certainly be reduced. For example, the Delta Platinum Amex card and the Delta Business Amex card each cost $ 250 per year. So, if you can use all of the $ 165 limited-time balances on these cards, you will effectively pay only $ 85 on the cards in 2021.
Again, it is important to note that these credits and bonus points are only available to people for whom one of these cards was already open on January 1, 2021. This means that if you open one of these cards today you will not have access to these limited time offers. (The only exception is the Delta Status Boost bonus offer, which is available to both new and existing card members.)
Also, remember that you must sign up for any of these offers before you can make an eligible transaction to earn credits or bonus points. Registration is possible via Amex offers either on the American Express website or via the Amex mobile app. (The only exception is the Delta Status Boost Bonus, which is automatic for eligible card members.)
American Express has been undoubtedly leading the way in proactively adding temporary benefits to its travel cards during the pandemic, and these new benefits are undoubtedly continuing that trend. Travel can open again in the second half of 2021. With a bit of luck, not only may you be able to take advantage of these new credits and bonus points, but also the actual travel features of your Delta, Hilton or Marriott credit card later this year.
