Ubisoft will be releasing a standalone free game in its ongoing Tom Clancy Division series called The Division Heartland. And while it didn’t provide many details, it is said that Red Storm Entertainment, studio writer Tom Clancy co-founded in 1996, is developing Heartland. The company will release the game to consoles, PCs, and the cloud sometime in 2021 or 2022.
According to Ubisoft, newbies don’t have to have played the last two games in the series to jump into the title. Tom Clancy’s The Division and The Division 2 tossed players into fictional versions of New York City and Washington DC ravaged by viral pandemics. According to Ubisoft, Heartland will “offer a whole new perspective on the universe in a new setting”. In the meantime, the company has opened signups for users to test out the game as soon as it’s about to be released.
Heartland is just one of several departmental projects by the publisher. There is also work being done on new content for The Division 2, a Netflix movie starring Jessica Chastain and Jake Gyllenhaal, as well as a spin-off novel. Fans can also look forward to a mobile game, with more details “at a later date”.
