The back-to-normal index
The pandemic economy is far from normal. Moody’s Analytics and CNN Business have teamed up to create a proprietary back-to-normal index consisting of 37 national and seven state indicators. The index ranges from zero, which represents no economic activity, to 100%, which represents the return of the economy to pre-March levels.
The economy in the United States is operating 91% of its level as of early March.
