Banzai raises $15M as investors pour cash into virtual event platforms

Banzai, a Seattle startup that sells event marketing software, has raised $ 15 million in venture capital. Columbia Pacific Advisors led the round, which included Gaingels’ participation.

Banzai was founded in 2016 by former Avalara employees and was originally an on-demand platform for sales and marketing. It has been postponed to help companies run event registrations. Then it turned again as a pandemic hit and focused on its virtual event marketing solution.

Banzai has acquired the virtual event platform High Attendance and the webinar platform Demio in the last six months. The company has more than 3,000 customers and around 100 employees. Total funding to date is $ 21.2 million.

Interest in virtual event platforms has increased amid the pandemic. This week Hopin raised $ 400 million at a valuation of $ 5.65 billion. Others, including Hubilo, Looped, and TouchCast, have also raised money this year.
